Patuá Dance is a colourful and innovative multicultural Dance-Theatre company with a unique theatrical language which combines dance, theatre and music blending different styles from Latin and European cultures.
Patuá Dance was formed in 1993 by Brazilian choreographer and dancer Fernanda Amaral with the aim of using any space to perform in, to take performance out of the conventional into streets, shopping precincts and conference centres.
Patuá Dance has performed at many of the major festivals in the UK, Eire, Europe and the Americas, including WOMAD - England, Spain, Canaries, Prague, Glastonbury - England, St Patrick’s - Dublin, Edinburgh Festival , La Marato - Barcelona, X -Track International Theatre Festival - Manchester. Also Patuá has led and performed at many carnivals, such as Reading, Belfast and Cardiff.
Patuá Dance has performed with many live bands, from the classics of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales to Brazilian percussion stars Olodum with their samba reggae. Also Patuá Dance appeared many times on Welsh, British and European T.V.
